In ancient Greece the image of Medusa was considered an apotropaic symbol, meaning one with the power to avert evil. In this piece I'm imagining Medusa in that benevolent guise, caring for her snakes and averting evil. (This piece accompanies a poem in my collection Beyond Pomegranate & Thorns.)
